Replacement of Screw Conveyors at a Power Station

Project Brief

We were contracted to manage a major mechanical replacement project at a power station, involving the removal and installation of twelve 6-metre screw conveyors and their troughs located beneath a large hopper. All work needed to be completed within a strict shutdown window, requiring meticulous planning, coordination, and execution.

Our Approach

From the outset, the project demanded a high level of collaboration with the customer. Our team carried out multiple pre-planning site visits, focusing on:

  • Obtaining precise measurements
  • Identifying the safest and most efficient methods for removal and installation
  • Assessing access, lifting requirements, and sequencing
  • Developing a detailed and achievable installation methodology

These early preparations enabled us to create a comprehensive execution plan that minimised risk and maximised efficiency during the shutdown.

To meet the tight deadline, we implemented a shift-based work schedule, ensuring continuous progress throughout the shutdown period. Our team maintained a strong ‘can-do’ attitude from start to finish, allowing us to quickly resolve challenges and maintain momentum without compromising safety or quality.

The Result

Despite the complexity of the task and the demanding timeframe, the project was completed safely, efficiently and within the designated shutdown window

The customer was extremely satisfied with the quality of the installation and the professional execution of the work. This project demonstrates our capability to deliver large-scale industrial solutions under challenging conditions, reinforcing our reputation for reliability and technical expertise.
